Describes the world’s greatest geographic realms plus their human and physical contents. Incorporates the dynamic changes that have affected Europe and the former Soviet Union. Chapter 1 (Europe) reflects the expansion of this realm from the former Soviet to the present Russian border. Chapter 2 has been completely rewritten to cover the dissolution of the USSR. The emerging internal geography of the Russian Republic, including its 16 internal republics within its border, is featured in a new chapter, along with the republics of Transcaucasia and the former Soviet Muslim Asia.
